Let’s learn more about her background, inspiring journey so far and her advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Aayushi:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?
My journey has been a dynamic blend of business acumen, personal transformation, and a deep-rooted passion for empowering individuals. After completing my MSc in Management from Cass Business School, City University London, and a Bachelor of Commerce from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, I ventured into the corporate world with a strong foundation in business and strategy.
However, it was my innate interest in personal style, human behavior, and holistic development that led me to pivot towards Image Consulting . I trained at the Image Consulting Business Institute (ICBI) and further deepened my expertise through an international certification in Image Management, Styling, Wardrobe Consulting, and Dining Etiquette from the Conselle Institute of Image Management, Utah, USA.
With a vision to bring meaningful change in people’s lives, I founded House of Image Consultant, where I help individuals align their inner confidence with their external appearance. Over the years, I’ve worked with a diverse clientele—from corporate professionals to young graduates—through services such as personal styling, lifestyle assessment, wardrobe clustering, and colour consultations.
In parallel, my role as the Secretary of the Image Management Professionals’ Association (IMPA), Kolkata Chapter, allows me to contribute actively to the community and stay engaged in the continuous evolution of the industry.
What drives me is the transformational journey I witness in each of my clients, helping them build self-assurance, refine their presence, and express their authentic selves with confidence.
How did you discover your passion?
My passion for style and personal presentation began quite early, thanks to my mother, who was my first style mentor. She made sure I was always dressed appropriately—every outfit coordinated with matching accessories and shoes, instilling in me the importance of looking well put together. What began as playful childhood dressing soon evolved into an intuitive sense of aesthetics and attention to detail.
As I grew older, friends and family naturally turned to me for style advice, whether it was shopping trips, choosing the right outfit for an occasion, or simply putting together a look that made them feel confident. The joy I felt in helping them transform, even in small ways, made me realise that styling was more than just fashion; it was a form of self-expression and empowerment.
That realisation, combined with my deep desire to help people feel beautiful from the inside out, led me to formally pursue Image Consulting. For me, it’s not just about clothes or grooming, it’s about aligning a person’s inner essence with their outward appearance and guiding them to step into the world with confidence and authenticity.
Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?
For me, resilience is rooted in self-belief, discipline, and a quiet kind of determination that doesn’t rely on applause. I’ve never been driven by external validation, instead, I find strength in consistency, self-love, and an unshakeable faith in both my purpose and the process.
I truly believe that success is a result of showing up every day, even when no one is watching. It’s the behind-the-scenes effort, the long hours, and the commitment to growth that eventually shape your journey. I trust in divine timing and draw immense strength from my faith in God, which keeps me grounded during uncertain times.
At the end of the day, it’s not about being celebrated, it’s about knowing that I’ve done the work, stayed true to my values, and given my best, no matter the circumstance.
What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
Firstly, I’ve learned that self-love is the foundation of all success. When you accept, respect, and celebrate who you are, everything else, confidence, clarity, and purpose, naturally aligns. It reflects in how you carry yourself and how the world responds to you.
Secondly, I’m a firm believer in the Law of Attraction. The energy you put out into the universe truly does come back to you. Positivity, gratitude, and visualising your goals have a powerful way of shaping your reality.
And finally, patience and faith, these two virtues have been my constant companions. Every meaningful achievement I’ve had, including founding House of Image Consultant, came from a place of passion and trust in divine timing. When you do what you genuinely love, work stops feeling like work, it becomes a joyful expression of who you are.
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
I believe success isn’t defined by a single trait, it’s a combination of mindset, intention, and consistent action.
If I had to distil it down to the key elements that have shaped my journey, they would be:
Helping others – True success is rooted in service. When you uplift others, you rise with them.
Accepting and loving myself – Self-acceptance is where personal power begins.
Taking responsibility for my actions – Accountability keeps me grounded and constantly evolving.
Standing up for myself – Confidence isn’t just about appearance; it’s about voicing your truth with grace.
Being resourceful and curious – I believe in staying curious, asking questions, and finding solutions no matter the challenge.
Maintaining a positive attitude – Optimism opens doors that doubt often closes.
Taking massive action with consistency and belief – Ideas are only as powerful as the actions they inspire. Consistency, paired with unwavering belief, is the engine that drives long-term success.
In essence, success is a journey of alignment between who you are, what you do, and how you choose to show up every day.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
Success is never instant, it’s a blend of consistency, clarity, and courage. After founding House of Image Consultant, I’ve realised that the path is filled with both breakthroughs and setbacks. What makes the difference is your ability to believe in yourself, especially when the results don’t show up right away.
My advice to young professionals is simple: Stay consistent and keep showing up, even on the days when you don’t feel like it. Don’t wait for perfection to begin; start with what you have and where you are. Let your passion guide you and your discipline carry you forward.
Also, invest in yourself continuously, whether it’s through skill-building, personal branding, or mastering communication. In today’s world, your ability to present yourself with confidence and authenticity is just as important as your qualifications.
Lastly, don’t fear failure. Each challenge teaches you something valuable. With patience, self-trust, and a willingness to adapt, you’ll discover that success isn’t a destination; it’s a journey of becoming the best version of yourself.
Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying and exciting?
What truly excites and fulfils me about this journey is the transformative impact I get to create in people’s lives. Helping individuals feel good about themselves, by guiding them on the science and art behind dressing, self-presentation, and confidence, feels deeply meaningful. There’s something incredibly powerful about watching someone light up when they start feeling comfortable and proud in their own skin.
It’s not just about style, it’s about self-worth, self-expression, and showing up with confidence in every sphere of life, be it personal, social, and professional. Every client’s happy smile, every message of gratitude, and every small shift in how they carry themselves is a reminder of why I chose this path.
I’ve always believed in giving back to society. In fact, a large part of my initial journey included pro bono consultations and free sessions because for me, making a difference always came before making money. That value continues to guide me.
It’s these real, human moments, seeing someone’s confidence grow, hearing how they nailed a job interview or finally felt beautiful at an event, that make the journey not just exciting, but soul-satisfying.
