At Brilliant Read Media, it is our constant endeavour to identify and share some of the unique and compelling stories from the startup ecosystem. As part of this, we invited Bashobi Roy for an interview with Brilliant Read Media. To say further, Bashobi is an Entrepreneur and Co-Founder at Pulse Gym. Let’s learn more about her background, inspiring journey so far and her advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Bashobi:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?
It’s been a beautiful 17-year journey of marriage, and I’m currently cherishing my role as a full-time mom to two wonderful kids. Professionally, I am building my path in the fitness and wellness industry.
After graduating from the University of Pune, I began my career with an aviation crew training organisation, where I developed strong professional discipline, client-handling expertise, and the art of training, presenting, and facilitating. Even today, I continue to learn, evolve, and explore new opportunities for growth.
How did you discover your passion?
Ever since my student days, I’ve always wanted to do something out of the box and create an identity that truly reflects who I am. I consistently excelled in co-curricular activities, whether it was debates, extempore speaking, or various stage performances.
Over time, these experiences helped me develop confidence, a powerful voice, and strong communication skills. Perhaps this is where I first discovered my passion. I also love writing—not professionally, but purely out of passion and expression.
What keeps you going when things get tough, despite all the challenges?
I believe the word “challenge” is often overrated. In fact, life without challenges can become mundane, and our efficiency tends to decline without something meaningful to push us.
Yes, life does test us, and at times the journey becomes tough, but the only way forward is to gather strength, stay resilient, and keep moving.
I also feel challenges become far more manageable—and even meaningful—when you have the right companion by your side, and I am truly blessed to have one.
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
Believe me, I’m someone who has always wished there was a shortcut to success—though it may sound unconventional to admit, I’d rather be honest. But life has taught me, time and again, that there is only one true path to success: hard work, hard work, and more hard work.
To me, success is not just about personal achievement; it is when your children—and even generations to come—are able to enjoy the fruits of the seeds you’ve sown through your dedication, resilience, and perseverance.
What are the important lessons you have learned in your life?
As I mentioned earlier, I am still in a learning phase, constantly working on my skills and gradually developing my niche. One quality I deeply aspire to build within myself is the ability to stay positive, calm, and composed.
My husband, Apoorv Gupta, embodies these traits so naturally. Even when I challenge him to the maximum, I am amazed at how grounded, organised, and composed he remains in every situation—and I am learning from that every day.
I also believe life is uncertain and unpredictable, so there is no space for “if” in life. Above all, giving time, love, and presence to family is essential because they are the true foundation of our lives.
What advice would you give to the new generation?
Our new generation is growing almost as fast as ChatGPT responds to a query. At times, they make us feel as though we belong to a completely different era. Yet, there’s no denying that today’s youth is a beautiful blend of joy, courage, intelligence, and incredible potential.
However, I still believe they are capable of so much more than relying on AI and allowing technology to become an essential extension of themselves. That thought genuinely concerns me.
There is an entire world to learn from, discover, invent, and explore. Step out, leave your comfort zone, allow yourself to get bored, and let creativity naturally arise. Feel the sweat, the effort, and even the fatigue—it’s absolutely normal.
Let your mind think for you, not AI. Let your heart guide you, not social media reels. And remember, you truly are capable of greatness.
