Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Dhaara:

We are aware of your contribution to the ecosystem, talk us through your background and your journey, please;

Dwindling my thumb and getting nowhere had become my thing. All I did was get confused as days passed by, these were my late teens.

College days were nearing completion and I had to make a decision in further education. Nothing excited me more than threads and needles. One would run away at the thought of a needle right? Well, not me.

Deep in my core, I knew that fashion has my heart. This passion of mine straight away took me to MILAN – the capital of Italian and international fashion. I was the FIRST Indian student to get an entry into the prestigious NABA University, Milan – Italy.”

I would love to share this rich fashion know-how gained over the years and my own personal experience, with each one of you here.

Are you with me? Say YES.

Let’s get fashionable “TOGETHER”

Dhaara K Goenka

What made you passionate about fashion designing?

Since my early childhood, I was fascinated towards art and creativity. I was always the one who wanted to take part in drawing and painting competitions and was always encouraged for the same. I have been awarded many certificates in the field of creativity, I was 16 where I discovered my passion for fashion.

I was always addressed as a “Style Icon” by people around, Like every other girl, I also liked dressing up. I was very choosy about my clothing and hence wanted to look out of the box.”

It was then my career in Fashion Design began and I graduated from FASHION CAPITAL OF WORLD” and my journey with fashion shall always continue. This encouraged me to explore the fascinating world of fashion.

‘Dhara Goenka Label’ is such a unique name; talk us through more about it, please. Our audience would also love to know what kind of problem you are solving with the help of your startup?

I embarked on a journey in late 2010 when I decided to come up with a unique customised brand focusing on ethic wear, launching it under the “Dhara Goenka Label”. Since then there are being no turning back and we have collaborated with numerous celebrity across the industry.

We empower artisans at the grass root level by providing sustainable employability and divinity of labour.”

We have created multiple original design. Through our work, we are promoting ethical wear.

How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?

“You learn something valuable from all of the significant events and people, but you never touch your true potential until you challenge yourself to go beyond imposed limitations.”

Well, I come from a conservative environment where we have a very fixed life plan.it was a challenge to convince people around me with respect to my career aspirations.

With the help and support of my mentors, teachers and friends, I decided to work towards my dreams. I acknowledge the contribution of people around me who inspire me.

Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?

My regular interaction with my team and clients over brainstorming session and deliver the unique offering.

What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?

The most important is working as a team. Well, I am associated with a lot of business platforms where we support each other and look after each other’s business.

I would like to give a shout-out to my dear “The Clique Club” (TTC) founder Priya Anjali Malpani, Mentor and Coach Aditya Sisodia, dear Sagar Agarwal from The box story, Vatsal Chedda from Pure Indulgence.

In last but not least my Darling friend Mrunali Kulkarni from Vision International and all other near and dear ones.  This journey wouldn’t have been possible without my life partner, Naman Rungta, who supports me unconditionally and my in-laws who respect my work.

In your opinion, what are the keys to success?

It’s very simple, having patience is the biggest key to success. You have ups and downs but that’s not the end of your business. Don’t step back when you fail, rather learn from your failure.

I was new to Bombay in 2018, I am based out from Ahmedabad and married in Mumbai. I remember, I did my first Exhibition and it was a complete failure, I couldn’t sell a single piece, at that point I kept myself calm and learned from it.

There is so much to share, but this conversation limits how much I can communicate on this platform. Anyone who would like to learn from my experiences can get in touch via my social media handles.”

Dhaara K Goenka

Last but not least, what is your Fashion Mantra?

I am inspired by fashion being a part of everyone’s story and take pride in being the storyteller – I DESIGN.

As a Fashion Entrepreneur – I believe in delivering fashion with comfort and style, the way you carry yourself and what makes you confident.
