Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Dr. Ritu:

Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?

I come from India, a land rich in culture, traditions, and deep-rooted family values. I was born and raised in Delhi in a joint family, where I witnessed firsthand how Indian parenting is shaped by love, duty, and respect for elders. Parents remain deeply involved in their children’s lives, offering constant support—no matter how old the child becomes.

But in today’s fast-changing world, this love can sometimes be misunderstood. What parents see as care, children often experience as pressure or control. This gap creates misunderstandings, rebellion, and emotional distance.

As a paediatrician for over 27 years, I have had countless conversations with parents and young people. I’ve seen the shift in family dynamics—where quiet obedience has been replaced by questioning, resistance, and a strong desire for self-expression.

And I’ve lived it myself. As a mother of two sons, now 29 and 26, I’ve made mistakes, faced struggles, and at times unintentionally hurt my bond with them—simply because I didn’t truly understand what they needed from me.

Everything began to change when I encountered the Curriculum for Living at Landmark Worldwide. It was the start of an inward journey—healing my own inner child, understanding myself more deeply, and redefining how I showed up as a parent, partner, and human being. That transformation was life-changing.

I found my voice. I reclaimed my strength. And most importantly, I rebuilt a respectful, open, and beautiful relationship with my sons. That experience lit a spark in me—to help other parents and young people navigate their own journeys of connection and growth.

Today, as an internationally accredited Life Coach for parents, teens, and young adults, I combine my medical background, personal experience, and deep empathy to guide families. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where both parents and young individuals feel heard, supported, and empowered.

My mission is simple: to help families reconnect with love, understanding, and purpose—so they can thrive together and pass that strength on to future generations.

How did you discover your passion?

My passion for coaching was born out of my own struggles and growth as a mother. For years, I was a “fixer parent” by default—jumping in to solve problems without realising how it was impacting my relationship with my sons or my effectiveness as a parent.

Through transformational coaching, I became aware of my unconscious patterns. As I shifted from fear-based parenting to a more conscious, trust-based approach, I witnessed a profound change. It didn’t just heal my bond with my children—it also reconnected me with my truest self.

This personal transformation lit a spark within me. The joy of rebuilding a strong, open relationship with my children inspired me to guide other parents and adolescents on their own journeys. It was in those moments of connection and empowerment that I discovered my true calling: embracing Life Coaching as my second profession.

Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?

My children and husband have been my greatest teachers and motivators. Every challenge I faced with them became a mirror—showing me what I needed to heal within myself and pushing me to learn, unlearn, and grow.

They continue to inspire me every day to become a better version of myself and to help other families experience the joy of authentic connection.

Along this journey, I have also been deeply influenced by thought leaders and mentors who shaped my path—Dr. Gabor Maté, Dr. Shefali Tsabary, Jay Shetty, and my coaches and guides at Landmark Worldwide, Jay Shetty Coaching School, and Dr. Mehernosh J. Randeria, NLP Master Trainer & W3 Coach. Their wisdom and guidance have strengthened my commitment to this work and continue to expand my perspective.

What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?

I’ve been on a journey of self-reflection to raise my self-awareness, uncovering limiting patterns and opening new possibilities through inner healing and personal breakthroughs. Along the way, I’ve embraced conscious parenting, grounded in presence, empathy, and trust.

Practicing active listening and non-judgmental communication—whether with my spouse, children, clients, or anyone I meet—has deepened my relationships and expanded my perspective. My commitment to continuous learning, through coaching certifications, inner child healing, and NLP, continues to grow my toolkit and skill set.

Most importantly, I’ve learned to value progress over perfection and to extend kindness and compassion to myself as much as to others.

In your opinion, what are the keys to success?

Success is not about achievements alone, but about alignment—living authentically and staying true to your values.

The keys I believe in are:

1) Integrity – Being your word and fulfilling on what you promise to yourself and others

2) Self-awareness and emotional intelligence.

3) Building meaningful connections and relationships.

4) Resilience in the face of challenges.

5) A growth mindset – seeing setbacks as opportunities to learn.

6) Service – using your skills and experiences to uplift others.

7) Self-Love – taking care of yourself and keeping your cup full so that you can pour it for others.

What advice would you give to our readers?

I encourage readers—especially parents and young people—to embrace authenticity and connection. As parents, we often fall into the trap of trying to “fix” our children, but real transformation begins when we look inward and do the work on ourselves first.

To the youth, my message is: trust yourself, honour your uniqueness, and never be afraid to seek support when you need it.

Life is not a race—it’s a journey of becoming. The more you align with who you truly are, the more meaningful, fulfilling, and impactful your life will be.
