Interview with Imran Khan | Co-Founder at Peau Care

Imran Khan

As part of our quest to get you meaningful and powerful stories from India and around the world, we invited another seasoned entrepreneur – Imran Khan for an exclusive interview with BrilliantRead Media. Imran is a sales strategies, entrepreneur and the Co-Founder of Peau Care. Let’s learn more about his incredible journey, his background and his advice for our growing community!

Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Imran:

We are aware of your contribution to the ecosystem, talk us through your background and your journey as an entrepreneur, please;

I did my schooling from Springdales School, Delhi and further studied business studies from IP University, Delhi. Soon after graduation, I started working in a pharmaceutical marketing company as a business development manager.

After working for two months, I joined a postgraduate management programme with specialisation in pharmaceutical management. But, it didn’t seem to impart much knowledge & I went back to the job.

I have always been very passionate about building something on my own. I got promoted as an area sales manager within two years & was working comfortably.

I always wanted to try new sunscreens & had around 9 odd sunscreens kept in my travel bag. But none used to be effective. I scrolled through Amazon, Flipkart but could not find effective ones. Then I thought of launching a range of sunscreens – chemical , mineral to help out people facing same problems. This is how I started in 2019 with two sunscreens.”

What attracts you towards entrepreneurship instead of a corporate career?

Nothing attracts more than passion. I don’t mind searching for new sunscreens 24/7. It doesn’t sound interesting to others but I don’t find any reason not to.

Also, The freedom that entrepreneurship provides is unmatched.

‘Peau Care’ is such a unique name; talk us through more about it, please. Our audience would also love to know what kind of problem you are solving with the help of your startup?

Peau is a French word which means ‘skin’ & simply, Peau care means ‘skincare’.”

The reason behind choosing a French word is because both of our sunscreens are inspired by French cosmetics.

During this COVID-19 crisis, what are the measures you have undertaken to continue your business without disruption?

We stopped our offline sales during the lockdown & coincidentally ie the time when we figured out that we should launch our brand online & help consumers find suitable sunscreens for themselves.

Please share with us – what has worked well for you so far?

One thing I would say that helped me and my company grow is the ability to listen to our customers. We believe that customers are not interested in products but in getting their problems resolved.

The more we listen to them, the problems they face in their business, the more efficiently and effectively we can resolve them. We believe that we are capable to do that and it is the only reason for our growth.

In your opinion – what is more necessary: Idea or a good team for a successful startup?

In my opinion, it should be a mix of both. You just cannot go ahead with an idea jotted down on a piece of paper without like-minded people working on it.

I have seen companies with very innovative ideas with niche market segment fail just because they lacked proper team spirit in them.”

To be successful, you should team up with co-founders who share your vision behind the idea and you also need to hire the right people for the right position so that it gets implemented in a proper way.

We would love to know your advice for all those starting out as an aspiring entrepreneur?

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and see them as an opportunity to learn.
