In our latest interview, we spoke to Komal Mittal to understand more about her startup and her journey as an entrepreneur. She is the founder and CEO of Kacyworld. Let’s read more to know about her journey as a women entrepreneur!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Komal:
Talk us a little about yourself and your startup please:
I am a software engineer by qualification. Raised up in a business-oriented family, I always had a very clear vision in my mind that I want to become a successful businesswoman. As soon as I graduated, started working at my father’s company to learn more and more about everything but more than learning it was a heart-wrenching process for me.
I never thought, the business world will be so difficult for women in real life, but it was. The male dominant society never let women be comfortable in even their own space.
Every day I calmed myself down and worked harder and harder. Sooner After that, I decided to take a big step and planned to start my own brand in jewellery and named it KACY Jewellery
Why did you choose entrepreneurship over a job?
This might sound a little unusual to hear but I wanted this since childhood. Those boardroom meetings, making responsible decisions and being the boss always tempted me. I always knew I will never able to fully happy into any job. Hence, without wasting any time, I just did what I had to and chose this entrepreneurial path.
What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e. what’s your source of motivation?
I get my motivation from everywhere around the world. whenever I see a woman feeling understated, or when I see people feeling like women just meant to be a house maker nothing more than that or even when I myself feel a little nervous in a room full of men in those big shot meetings. All of these things motivate me and keep the drive-in me alive.
Whenever I wake up in the morning my alarm says “ Be the change you want to see “ That’s what I believe in. I see it every morning and feel all pumped up to work.
What challenges/obstacles did you face in your journey so far?
Every business has risks. Our challenges are associated with keeping up with constantly changing trends as well as constant expenditure in marketing which keeps on increasing with the growing competition in the market. We have been keeping up with these obstacles till now and we are confident enough that we will also grow with it.
Tell our audience more about your failures? How should one bounce back?
Yes, we do have some failures but I believe in learning from them. So we came up with a solution to cope up with this , whenever we face some loss, next time we keep that same amount as a target and try to achieve it until we are successful, Once we tick off that target, we move to next target, be it our audience count, revenue or even just a small bump on the road.
How do you handle the pressure and manage stress?
I think this is one of the most crucial parts of working as a startup Founder for most people but I have managed it quite well and happy about it.
I believe when you are really passionate about what you do, Sundays don’t really matter to you. Whenever I feel a little unmotivated, I start looking at some of my competitors and suddenly a drive comes through and I get motivated again to work even harder. I think it’s all about a positive attitude.
What advice would you give to someone starting out, particularly to aspiring women entrepreneurs?
To all aspiring women entrepreneurs, I would like to say, Step up and do something big. If you don’t know what to do and you feel you are good for nothing, then you are wrong, you haven’t tried enough things yet. Keep Trying. and to all young girls out there, Raise your voice, only you can bring the change and make this place a better one.
