Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Madhulika:

Talk us through your background and your journey, please;

I am a person with a multi-cultural background, with influences from various States of India. My school and college education has been in Delhi. Schooling from Modern School, Barakhamba Road and B.A LL.B from Amity Law School, Delhi.

Being a person who is committed and determined, my father best thought I should pursue to become a Judge after completing my law degree. 2019 was the year I decided for myself to be the last year to attempt the exam. Surprisingly I cleared all the written exams, however, did not get through the final stage of the interview. I turned my life around from being a lawyer to becoming a Coach in 2022.

As a mother, I am bringing up my son as an emotionally intelligent child. Living in a Joint family, it is imperative to be an inclusive parent and I believe in the fact that it takes a village to raise a child and I am committed to creating a tribe around every mother.”

Supporting Women in transitioning in careers and Supporting new mothers build a joyful space around herself, her baby, husband, in-laws, parents, siblings and also co-workers.

My niche is relationship coaching. It is focused on Couples Coaching and Singles Coaching. A relationship is not restricted to marriages, it is a bond of love, respect and trust between two individuals.

I am a Conscious Creator, a skill that is not easily acquired. Having a 10-year of experience in energy facilitation I have learnt my way through LIFE. I am a Conscious being who is creating the life that she wants.

How did you discover your passion as a ‘Coach’?

From being a lawyer to a Life Coach, the shift wasn’t easy. It took me some time but I got there. Practising law was the only thing I knew about myself.

I started practising with my husband but somehow no matter how much I tried I started losing interest. Even then I continued in this field, thinking that maybe it was just a phase. Then I started feeling insecure about the fact that I don’t have a regular source of income nor do I have a job which I love. In between, I also delivered a baby boy.

With such great responsibility, I figured I needed a career break. In this transitional period, there were times I was lost as to what I will do.

The big question was whether I would be able to manage advocacy and my child together. And every mother goes through this phase in our society, this is not new. I said to myself let us do what everyone else is doing. Either hiring maids or taking support of family.”

But does that really work? Our constant need to control our child’s life creates walls between other new relationships that are emerging. I saw that happening in my home too. So, I decided to rebuild my relationship with trust, love and care with my husband, my parents, my sister and my In-laws. I built my tribe around it and I continue to do so.

In the back of my mind, I use to feel incomplete as to where am I going in LIFE. And in April 2022 I came across Life Coaching Program and there was “BAM”. It was like, I came to the right place. Coaching is something I resonate with. I found something meaningful and what I get energised with.

How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?

Answer – The one thing that keeps me going is finding the larger purpose of life. Being a Women entrepreneur, a mother to a toddler, a Home manager, Daughter-in-law, a sibling and a Wife I have learnt to adapt the role according to each situation. It’s a hard task but with practice, anyone can do it. I face challenges daily whether they are at home front or at work.

Creating a balance and some boundaries between different relationships is important. These structures need to be created to manage the demanding life which we live these days. Every time when I am faced with challenges I remind myself of the larger purpose and work towards a better option to deal with.

Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?

My daily source of motivation is ‘ME’. I may sound selfish in saying this but, the work I do gives me immense happiness. However, My source of strength is my family, especially my husband, son and sister. And a very special friend Raveena.

What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?

I would like to acknowledge my parents for giving me a platform to grow naturally into a determined, committed and disciplined human being.

By adolescence, I had completed Classical Kathak training, a Black belt in Taekwondo and also played Tennis at a National Level. These co-curricular activities gave me the skills to be courageous, resilient and responsible.

With time and practice of Yoga and Pranayam, I was able to understand which direction I was drawn to and that is towards Spirituality.

Spirituality is not just about meditation. It’s about self-awareness. Being able to understand your own emotions, process them and allow yourself to be.

My mantra has been to expand my consciousness and shine my light.

In your opinion what are the keys to success?

For me Key to Success has been:-

> Define what success actually mean to you.

> Taking responsibility of actions and things around you.

> Releasing any thoughts of Self-doubt.

> Aligning your beliefs and values with your goals

> Commitment and being consistent with it.

What advice would you give to our readers?

We are so involved in the daily life and roles that we play that we forget that there is this ‘INNER-SELF’. This sense of self comes when with awareness.

We all are emotional beings and each decision of ours involves emotions. Unless we know how to process it, how will we take decisions that are good for us. Coaching is a process which helps develop emotional intelligence.

Today leaders and management of big corporations and companies are highly invested in their personal growth. They take the support of good coaches to help them take tough and important decisions for their organizations impacting thousands of employees.

Coaching is for everybody. Take Support and Achieve your Goals.

Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?

The journey entails all kinds of paths and roads. We move towards the direction which seems to be right. However, on that path, there will be obstacles like pit holes, blocks, uneven paths. We may take some time but we are always motivated to move ahead of that and pass that pit-holes no matter what the discomfort is.

Similarly for me, in my journey, these pit-holes and blocks create some kind of excitement. I know there is discomfort when we are going through that process but the end result is always satisfying.

I learnt from the incidents and events that took place in my life. With the learnings the wisdom that I have got is immense. I am thrilled to share this wisdom and add value to people’s lives. This is the most soul-satisfying thing for me.
