Let’s learn more about her background, inspiring journey so far and her advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Manjusri:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey? How did you discover your passion?
My journey into architecture began unexpectedly during a Ganesh festival visit to a friend who was studying the subject. I was captivated by the intricate, hand-crafted building models he had created — and that moment sparked a lifelong fascination with design and space.
I went on to graduate from Rachana Sansad Academy of Architecture and started my professional journey with an internship at Uday Master & Associates. My very first project — designing a Bank of Baroda branch — ignited a passion for commercial interiors, which has since shaped much of my work.
Over the years, I’ve been part of a wide spectrum of residential, retail, and mixed-use projects. I’ve worked with some of India’s leading design firms, including Somaya & Kalappa, Space Matrix, and DSP Design. My portfolio includes workplace designs for clients such as Morgan Stanley, Ratan Tata, Abbott, and Goldman Sachs, along with flagship retail stores for Starbucks, McDonald’s, and Toni & Guy.
Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?
What drives me isn’t a person but a belief — that our time on earth is limited, and every moment must be lived with intention. I’m deeply motivated by the idea of contributing meaningfully to the purpose I’ve chosen, whether through design, collaboration, or simply showing up fully for the work that matters.
What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?
“Do it right the first time” It might take time, but planning in detail makes the execution easier.
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
“Consistency” in any walk of life will always give positive results.
