Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Parul:

What inspired you to start ZEBA, and what was the vision behind creating this luxury label?

ZEBA was born from a deep love for timeless elegance and a desire to create fashion that makes women feel confident, feminine, and unforgettable. I always believed there was space for a luxury label that could beautifully merge modern silhouettes with delicate Indian craftsmanship in a way that feels fresh, contemporary, and aspirational.

The vision behind ZEBA was simple yet powerful to design statement occasion wear that feels graceful without losing modernity. I wanted every outfit to celebrate individuality, confidence, and sophistication.

For me, fashion is not just about clothing; it’s about how a woman feels when she wears it. ZEBA was built to create those memorable moments where fashion becomes an expression of confidence and beauty.

Your designs beautifully blend modern silhouettes with traditional elegance. How do you maintain that balance while staying relevant to evolving fashion trends?

Fashion is constantly evolving, but I strongly believe authenticity should never be compromised. I stay aware of global fashion trends and changing customer preferences, but I don’t believe in following trends blindly.

At ZEBA, we consciously create pieces that feel contemporary in silhouette while preserving the richness of traditional craftsmanship. Whether it’s delicate embroidery, pearl detailing, handcrafted textures, or intricate embellishments, we ensure every piece carries timeless elegance.

The goal is to create outfits that feel relevant today but remain beautiful and wearable years later. That balance between modern structure and classic artistry is truly the essence of ZEBA.

Fashion entrepreneurship often looks glamorous from the outside, but comes with immense challenges behind the scenes. What has been the toughest phase in your journey so far?

Without a doubt, the toughest part has been building a brand from scratch while managing both creativity and business simultaneously. People often see the glamour of fashion, but behind every collection, there are countless decisions, uncertainties, and responsibilities.

From production challenges and maintaining quality standards to growing visibility in a highly competitive industry, every phase has tested patience and resilience. There have been moments of pressure and self-doubt, but every challenge has also shaped ZEBA into what it is today.

Looking back, I feel those difficult phases made the journey more meaningful because they taught me persistence, adaptability, and trust in the process.

ZEBA focuses on occasion and cocktail wear. What emotions or confidence do you want women to feel when they wear your creations?

More than anything, I want women to feel powerful, elegant, and celebrated when they wear ZEBA.

Whether it’s a cocktail evening, wedding celebration, or a milestone event, I want every woman to feel confident in her individuality and completely comfortable in her own skin.

Fashion should never overpower the person wearing it; it should enhance her personality and confidence. My aim is for every ZEBA outfit to make a woman feel graceful, glamorous, and unforgettable.

As a founder and creative director, how do you manage the balance between artistic creativity and business decisions?

Balancing creativity and business is an ongoing learning process. Creativity is the soul of ZEBA it’s what gives the brand emotion, uniqueness, and identity. But discipline, strategy, and practical decision-making are equally important because they sustain the business.

When designing collections, I always try to maintain artistic freedom while understanding customer lifestyles, market demand, and wearability. Fashion is art, but it also has to resonate with people in real life. For me, success lies in creating pieces that are visually beautiful while remaining relevant, practical, and commercially sustainable.

Social media has become the modern fashion runway. How has Instagram contributed to ZEBA’s growth and identity?

Instagram has been incredibly important in shaping ZEBA’s identity and visibility. It has given us the opportunity to connect directly with women, showcase our craftsmanship, and tell the story behind every collection.

What makes social media powerful is that it goes beyond marketing, it builds an emotional connection. Through Instagram, we’ve been able to reach women across different cities, understand what resonates with them, and create a strong visual language for the brand. It has become a space where ZEBA’s personality truly comes alive.

What role does Indian craftsmanship and detailing play in your collections, and how important is it for you to preserve that essence?

Indian craftsmanship is truly the heart of ZEBA.

I have immense admiration for the patience, artistry, and skill that go into handcrafted detailing. Whether it’s pearl embellishments, intricate embroidery, floral cutwork, textures, or finishing techniques, these details bring soul and individuality to every garment.

Preserving craftsmanship is deeply important to me because it carries heritage, emotion, and authenticity, something machine-made fashion can never truly replicate. I believe luxury lies in detail, and Indian artisanship is one of our greatest strengths.

Every designer has a signature philosophy. What would you say is the “Parul touch” that makes a ZEBA outfit instantly recognisable?

I would say the “Parul touch” lies in feminine structure, delicate detailing, and effortless elegance.

I’m naturally drawn to designs that feel soft yet powerful sculpted silhouettes balanced with intricate pearl embellishments, floral elements, and refined craftsmanship.

I love creating luxury that feels understated rather than overwhelming. Every ZEBA piece is designed to feel elegant, modern, and timeless at the same time, and I think that balance has become our signature identity.

What advice would you give to aspiring women entrepreneurs looking to build a fashion or lifestyle brand from scratch?

Start with passion, but build with discipline.

A brand is never built overnight; it takes patience, consistency, resilience, and immense belief in your vision. Don’t hesitate to start small because every successful journey begins with one step.

Focus on originality, quality, and meaningful relationships with your audience.

Most importantly, trust your instincts and avoid comparing your journey to someone else’s timeline. Success looks different for everyone, and authenticity always wins in the long run.

Looking ahead, what is your dream for ZEBA in the next five years: couture, international expansion, celebrity styling, or something even bigger?

My dream is for ZEBA to become a globally recognised luxury label while staying deeply rooted in its identity and values.

Yes, I would love to see ZEBA expand internationally, grow in couture, and become part of celebrity styling and larger fashion platforms. But beyond visibility and growth, my biggest aspiration is to build a brand that women emotionally connect with, a label that represents confidence, elegance, and timeless beauty.

At the end of the day, if women wear ZEBA and feel empowered, beautiful, and truly themselves, that would be the greatest success of all.
