Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Purnima:

Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?

My journey from civil engineering to entrepreneurship and soft skills coaching has equipped me with a holistic understanding of both technical and human-centric aspects of success.

Moving forward, I am committed to leveraging this unique blend of skills and experiences to drive positive change, inspire others, and make a meaningful impact in the spheres of business, education, and personal development.

Currently, as a certified soft skills coach, I have had the privilege of empowering individuals to unleash their full potential.”

Through tailored coaching sessions, I wish to help professionals and people who are trying to follow their passions develop essential skills such as communication, leadership, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution.

How did you discover your passion? What motivated you to start something like this?

Growing up, I was always fascinated by how things were built and the impact they had on our daily lives.

One particular memory stands out: visiting a dam with my family, it was so huge and I asked my father, how they built it. Seeing such a magnificent structure, people in action and witnessing the transformation of functional structures ignited a spark within me.”

Throughout my education in civil engineering, I was fortunate to have professors who encouraged my curiosity and challenged me to think creatively about solving complex problems. Their guidance deepened my passion for the field.

But it wasn’t until I started my own company that I truly understood the power of creating something tangible with my hands. The process of designing and crafting unique pieces allowed me to blend my technical skills with artistic expression, opening up a whole new avenue for exploration.

As I delved deeper into entrepreneurship, I discovered another passion: empowering others through soft skills coaching. Working with individuals to develop their communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills brought me immense joy and fulfilment.”

Each step of my journey has reinforced my belief in the transformative power of pursuing what you love. I’m grateful for the experiences that have shaped my path and excited to continue exploring new opportunities for growth and impact.

Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?

I’m fortunate to have the strong support of my husband and family that stands by me through thick and thin. Their unwavering support, encouragement, and belief in my abilities remind me that I’m not alone in facing challenges. I’ve always believed that setbacks are temporary roadblocks, not dead ends.

I view challenges as opportunities for learning and growth. Each obstacle I encounter teaches me valuable lessons and strengthens my resolve. Instead of letting setbacks deter me, I use them as stepping stones to become better equipped to handle whatever comes my way.”

At the core of everything I do is a deep-seated passion and sense of purpose. Knowing that my work has the potential to make a difference motivates me to push through challenges.

What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the power of resilience and adaptability.

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns, and it’s often our ability to bounce back from adversity that defines our journey.”

Another key lesson I’ve learned is the importance of gratitude and perspective. In moments of hardship or disappointment, it’s easy to lose sight of the positives in life. However, by cultivating a mindset of gratitude and focusing on what I have rather than what I lack, I’ve discovered a deeper sense of fulfilment and contentment. This shift in perspective has not only helped me navigate challenges with grace but has also strengthened my relationships and brought more joy into my life.

The third important lesson I’ve learned is the power of authenticity and self-discovery. The importance of valuing authentic connections and nurturing meaningful relationships. In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in superficial interactions, but I’ve found that true fulfilment comes from fostering genuine connections with others and aligning with our core values and passions.
