Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Sri:

What made you passionate about coaching?

More than my passion for coaching, I’d like to talk about how we people, in general, tend to not bother about the underlying problems, how we just focus on our individual benefits.

I personally believe that there is a need for all of us to focus on the underlying problems and their root causes. This was a thought that has always kept running in my mind and I started to think about what can I actually do in 2018. After a lot of brainstorming, I felt that we don’t focus on one IMPORTANT thing which doesn’t let us grow i.e. our mental health.

Though there are a lot of Mental Health advocates out there today, we’re still failing at making people understand why it is important for us to actually take care of our mental health.

I’d like to ask you these questions:

“Looking at the fact that we are all humans and have a single brain, let us suppose 10 people put in the same efforts towards the same goal, why is it that everyone’s result different?

Or the simplest example of 40 students in the same class appearing for the same test and getting different results. Why is that?”

Or ask yourselves, “Why is that at some point of time in your life were you so fed up with everything and felt suicidal? Why is that people who are rich, having a lavish lifestyle choose to end their life?”

My answer to this is simple. It’s because we all are unique. Maybe similar, but never the same. The thinking patterns, the trigger points, pain points, the intensity with which we feel each emotion, everything and everything is different in every individual.

Coming to my point, looking at all these, I felt there’s a need of making people understand their own selves first, heal and change their thinking patterns as required without losing their uniqueness. That’s what makes a person confident in his own self and discover his potential in reaching heights.

I finally understood that everyone deserves to get a chance at reaching their goals but the socio-economic physical and psychological status stops a person from reaching it. Though the other factors are some things which may or may not be in our control, it shouldn’t be your own mind that’s stopping you from achieving something you wanted to.

The mind’s everything. That’ll change everything for us. Focusing on our mind/mental health would solve most of our problems. That’s when I started working on myself first while counselling others who require it and finally have decided to become a Coach to help people do the same with their own selves and continue to become better.

In short, my personal struggles with mental health and my continuous thought of doing something regarding the underlying problems combined has led me to take this decision. It’s a passion + career for me.

Helping people work on themselves and get out of their own barriers makes me happy. It’s that one person that benefits from my programs is what brings me satisfaction. I’ll be the change I think should be needed.

That’s my passion.

How do you manage yourself and keep on going despite the challenges? What drives you?

If you’d ask me this question three years back, I’d have had no answer. I was an impulsive person. There are a lot of things that I had to work on including my temper.

The day I decided to become a Coach is something that has changed everything for me. I worked on myself in such a way that I don’t suffer from low self-esteem anymore. I’m super confident.

I manage my emotions well. I know when and how to use my emotions to drive me for good. My passion drives me every single day to work towards the betterment of myself and others. I manage myself really well despite all the challenges because I’m fully aware of myself.

I know my SWOT, I know my trigger points, I know how I think. I’m aware. When you are aware about something, you don’t have to keep worrying about it. It’s the same thing with every individual too. It is important for every one of us to work on ourselves to help us worry less and manage ourselves well.

Sri Haritha

Please share with us, how do you motivate your clients?

I strongly believe that the motivation in a person stays only when it comes out of their personal experiences/life. I make sure that they relate to their goal with their experiences which would make sure to keep pushing them as long as needed.

If a person can’t relate their goal with previous experiences and if I create an artificial source of motivation, it doesn’t last long. For example, you feel highly motivated after listening to motivational songs, movies, success stories or speeches. But do you also catch yourself losing that motivation just after few hours of feeling that high?

It is because all of those things have nothing to do with you or your goals or you haven’t really experienced their experiences. So it’s better we find motivation in our own selves and that’s what I do with my clients as well!

Is mindset shift really necessary?

Yes! We all go through a lot in life. So much that sometimes we lose ourselves in the cycle and don’t even realise it. Although for different reasons, we keep running leaving ourselves behind. We at least visit the doctor if we’re sick once in a while because our body doesn’t support running. Else, we don’t even care about it and that’s the reason it seems like we are asking a lot when asked to take care of our mental health.

But for a person to be able to handle things better to be the person who discovered his full potential, or anything in between – he needs to have a proper mindset.

In the cycle of life amidst the race, we having the right mindset to do things is impossible. A lot of factors affect our mindset. It is our duty to foolproof it from the factors that make it toxic. That’s something my clients find most useful too!

Imagine having a positive mindset rather than a negative one.

A mind which searches for other possibilities rather than getting disappointed. A mind which is satisfied with the present though is hungry to achieve more. A mind which doesn’t let your own self down.

A mind which is grateful and happy.

Imagine!

Everything you want to achieve can happen with a will to shift your mindset.

What services do you offer to help your clients?

I work with my clients in order to help them heal and find a new better version of themselves which include working on basics like building confidence to changing their thinking patterns and have a proper mindset shift.

Sometimes, I work only on certain aspects like getting out of their insecurities or low self-esteem according to the client’s needs. So every service/program offered is completely personalized.

Please share with us – what has worked well for you so far?

My interest in the subject, continuous learning and trying to understand an individual properly and being able to suggest exercises accordingly has been the best thing that’s been working for me. Though the profession needs me to learn things continuously, it’s been satisfying.

Sri Haritha

In your opinion what are the keys to success?

CONSISTENCY and WILL POWER. The only two most important keys to success according to me. If you have the will to achieve your goal and are being consistent, there’s obvious progress. No doubt to success when there’s progress.

I’d also want to add, the definition of success varies from person to person. If a person wants to be financially sound, the other just wants a peaceful life. It doesn’t mean a person is successful and the other isn’t. Stop comparing your growth with others. Your success isn’t theirs, and vice versa.

For me, success is a person being able to differentiate between what he was yesterday and the progress he made so far at any point of time in his life.

What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?

DO NOT RUSH.

Especially because I’ve been in a position unable to decide what to do but wanted to be successful, just a few years ago I’d just tell you not to rush.

If you already have a chosen career according to your will, start working towards gaining knowledge in the specific field and start planning on what you want to achieve eventually without just rushing into it. Don’t focus just on certifications/degrees but try focusing on implementing the knowledge gained.

If you are a student, try analysing yourself first and choose a career that suits you and your interests, and/or your studying field the best. Knowledge is everything.

That’s what will take you to places. I ain’t talking about your academics but it’s really important for you to make sure that you are constantly learning. Until you decide on a specific career, learn everything you can about your interests. Then start learning about the ONE you want to focus on. Keep learning.
