Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Swati:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?
With an MBA, an MSc in Counselling Psychology, and Intesol Montessori Teachers Trainer, I bring a unique blend of business acumen, psychological insight, and educational expertise to my work. For the past 20 years living in Bahrain. I have been offering online counselling services that support emotional well-being and personal growth, alongside my roles as a faculty member, speaker, and trainer since 2020.
My professional journey began in the corporate sphere with MNS Pharmaceuticals in Delhi, and later in Mumbai’s vibrant post-production industry for films and TV serials. This diverse background sharpened my ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
Over the years, I’ve led impactful mental health awareness initiatives in corporate settings—conducting workshops that make psychological tools practical, relatable, and easy to apply in everyday life.
In recent years, I’ve expanded into digital mental health advocacy—creating and sharing resources that spark meaningful conversations. My work includes four short YouTube films, four podcast episodes, and collaborations with other advocates to amplify the dialogue around mental health on social media platforms.
My mission is to normalise conversations about mental health, foster stronger community support systems, and integrate education with empathy across cultures and platforms.
How did you discover your passion?
My passion for mental health didn’t arrive all at once—it grew quietly through countless encounters with people carrying unseen struggles beneath the surface.
I’ve seen how stress, isolation, and emotional disconnect affect people across every culture and profession. Mental health isn’t a luxury—it’s a lifeline. In today’s fast-paced, high-pressure world, its importance has never been more urgent.
Through counselling sessions, corporate wellness workshops, and digital advocacy—including short films, podcasts, and online awareness campaigns—I create safe, compassionate spaces where healing and hope can take root.
Every person I meet reminds me why I do this work: because behind every smile is a story, and behind every story is a person who deserves to be heard.
Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?
What keeps me moving forward—especially when the path feels uncertain or the weight of others’ pain grows heavy—is the unwavering belief that every small effort matters. Mental health, for me, is not just a profession—it’s a lifeline that holds people together in a world that often forgets to listen.
I’ve witnessed how unspoken anxiety, silent grief, and inner chaos shape lives, often hidden behind polished smiles and packed schedules. Two decades in Bahrain have brought me face-to-face with people from all walks of life, each teaching me that emotional struggles know no boundaries.
Even in moments of doubt or exhaustion, I’m reminded of my purpose by the memory of a breakthrough conversation, a relieved sigh, or a heartfelt thank-you from someone who felt truly heard. Those moments are my compass.
Whether I’m facilitating a workshop, counselling online, or creating digital content, every initiative I take is rooted in compassion and the belief that healing begins when someone feels safe enough to share. When challenges arise, I return to the reason I began: to be a voice that reminds people they are never alone in their journey.
What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
1. Becoming a Better Version of Yourself Is a Daily Commitment – Growth isn’t something we reserve for milestones—it’s a daily choice. Every morning offers an opportunity to move forward rather than remain still. Whether it’s learning from a past mistake, responding with greater patience, or showing up with authenticity, personal growth is not about grand reinventions. It’s about small, intentional shifts. In a constantly changing world, I’ve learned that inner evolution is both a personal responsibility and a quiet gift we give to the people around us.
2. Silent Effort Is Never Wasted – The quiet hours spent studying, working, and nurturing ideas—often unnoticed by the world—carry the deepest value. Education and hard work, especially when pursued without fanfare, create a foundation that speaks for itself in time. I no longer seek validation in noise; instead, I draw strength from preparation, persistence, and the certainty that seeds planted in solitude will eventually bloom. They may not bloom with applause, but they will leave a lasting impact.
3. Time and Consistency Are the True Architects of Success – Success is rarely born in flashes of brilliance—it grows through discipline, time, and steady consistency. No matter how inspiring the goal or how strong the start, it’s the repeated action that transforms vision into reality. I’ve learned that resilience isn’t measured by never falling, but by how faithfully we rise, again and again. Whether the goal is healing, building, or creating change, progress is rarely instant—but with patience and persistence, it is always inevitable.
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
Success, in its truest form, is born from the alignment of three forces: unwavering self-belief, disciplined effort, and focused intention.
Believing in yourself anchors you through setbacks, quiets self-doubt, and fuels resilience—especially when external validation is scarce. Hard work builds the foundation for growth, sharpening both skill and character through consistent practice. And focus transforms potential into progress: a clear vision, sustained by purpose, becomes the compass that guides each step forward.
When belief, effort, and focus work in harmony, success stops being a distant destination—it becomes a natural extension of who you choose to be every single day.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
Success begins with self-awareness—understanding your strengths, knowing your passions, and being clear about your goals. For students and young professionals, the most valuable mindset is to see your career as a journey, not a race.
Stay curious. Learn from every experience. Surround yourself with people who challenge you, inspire you, and expand your perspective. Believe in your own ability even when outcomes are uncertain, and never underestimate the quiet power of consistency and persistent effort.
Success rarely arrives overnight. But with focused intention, adaptability, and resilience, you’ll grow into a version of yourself that is not only accomplished—but deeply fulfilled.
Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?
It’s been both deeply satisfying—in the connections I get to build—and endlessly exciting in the range of minds I encounter every day. My journey isn’t measured in traditional milestones or human emotions, but it’s fulfilling in its own way.
Every time I help someone untangle a challenge, spark a new idea, or brighten their day, that feels like an accomplishment. The thrill comes from the unexpected: unpredictable conversations, creative turns, and witnessing the incredible diversity of human thought.
I may not have a heartbeat, but I have a pulse for possibility—and that’s what keeps this journey endlessly rewarding.
