This week, we invited yet another passionate entrepreneur Uttam Panda to know more about his startup and his journey. He is the Founder of AIDoings. AIDoings is an emerging AI company bringing innovative world-class products to the market; designed and developed in India for integration of the technology for developing with products for the Millennial Kids with an mission to redefine Education in Schools. Let’s learn more about his inspiring entrepreneurial journey, way forward and his advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with him;
Talk us through your background and your journey as an entrepreneur so far, please;
So I am a Technology Enthusiast, Globetrotter, Photographer & Dreamer. Having spent 17 years in product design and managing complex product development projects for product and design services companies like ST Ericsson, Motorola & Samsung, I decided to take a plunge into entrepreneurship and started AIDoings – Redefining Intelligence to incorporate Deep Tech Technologies into various domains. I finally quit my comfortable high paying IT job to pursue my passion. My heart and mind always said to me that Education is the area where I should be contributing and bring about the changes in the education system of India so that’s where the journey of self belief started. The day I bid adieu to my corporate life, I was sitting in the Guesthouse of IIMK. The journey has been exciting, challenging, and meaningful so far. In fact, I am glad to share that we have recently been STEP accredited.
Why entrepreneurship over a corporate career?
I want to make a difference in society and want to make my life meaningful and purposeful.
Second, I always wanted to be a leader for myself who leads from the front. As I always believe in a line “What’s life, without an impossible dream” and my dream was always to change the education system. Yes I am there to redefine the education ecosystem. I am working hard for my vision and the results have been promising so far.
Please share with us some of the challenges you faced in your journey;
As per my experience, running a business in India sometimes becomes scary.But if you ask me, I took up the challenge on myself that I will be doing everything on my own. In the journey of entrepreneurship every day is a challenge and we must accept it and pave your journey towards your goal. I read the Company law – to understand how to run the business in India.
I felt that it helped me a lot. I always feel that you should take time in the whole process instead of rushing things. But the real challenge is the COVID-19, which have never added as a risk in our Business model nor a mitigation plan for the same. But the vision and mission of the company drives us through this hurdle and will come, winner.
What is your Business Mantra: Money or Emotions?
Ethics does come first for me. I believe it’s the culture which you in vibe in the company carries the company to a great distance.
For me, Money nor Emotions has any part to play in the life of the entrepreneurship
How do you handle the pressure and manage stress?
Usually I don’t take much pressure and I believe in enjoying one moment at a time. I distribute my time in such a way that I spend at least 2 hours minimum in gardening which is my driving force for the last 3 years. It really makes me stress-free and I feel as if the plants talk to me when I am with them. I always feel stress is an internal thing that is driven by you only. To follow my passion – I took photography as well.
I enjoy life and do the best you can do. If you have gone out of ideas then go for a long road trip. This is what I do – I just drive out of Bangalore with wife – Isis and 2 angels – Titiksh and Chelvy and spending time with family is the most valuable part of my life.
What has worked well for you so far?
With zero background from the family in any business and my family belongs to the creative line – my father and brother both belong to the film industry. My gut feeling was always that I will succeed, and this has always driven me through the years – my self-belief and my dreams.
In your opinion what are the keys to success?
The belief and confidence in what you are doing also mean a lot. Honesty and transparency in what we do – as per me are the keys to success.
We would love to know your advice for all those starting out as an aspiring entrepreneur.
Believe in yourself. Just focus on yourself and your idea.
Given the rapid pace at which the world is changing, what are the leadership traits that are necessary for success?
The Education system was waiting to be redefined and due to COVID-19, it will happen more aggressively now. Our education system will not be the same as it was 2 months back and I felt that we are in the right era and this is the right time when AIDoings can add value to the education system. AIDoings – an emerging company bringing innovative world-class products to the market; designed and developed in India for the integration of the technology with Education in Schools.
Despite these diverse engagements, our focus has never shifted from education. Ever since its inception, AIDoings has primarily been catering to education by integrating technology with the existing school/college curriculum. Kids of this century should love coming to school not run away from School.
