At BrilliantRead Media, we always strive to bring meaningful and inspiring stories from India and around the world to empower and motivate our growing community. As part of this endeavour, we invited Amrita Priyadarshini for an exclusive interview with us. Amrita is an Entrepreneur, Legal Advisor, Investor and Founder & CEO at Raagam Consulting. Let’s learn more about her inspiring journey, teaching philosophy, and valuable insights.
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Amrita:
You have built a multifaceted professional journey spanning entrepreneurship, counselling, legal advisory, investments, and leadership. What inspired you to bring these seemingly diverse areas together under your entrepreneurial journey, and what has this evolution taught you about building a meaningful career?
Although entrepreneurship, counselling, legal advisory, investments and leadership may seem like different areas, for me they are connected by one purpose: helping people make informed decisions and creating a meaningful impact in their lives.
My journey began in media, moved through healthcare and corporate business, and eventually into background verification and investigations. It was there that I discovered the importance of pre-matrimonial verification and realised how much it could help people protect their future.
I had always wanted to become a doctor, but life took me in a different direction. Today, I feel I am contributing to people’s lives in another way through verification, counselling and legal guidance. When our work helps someone identify a serious concern before marriage, I feel we have potentially saved them from a life-changing mistake.
My journey has taught me that a meaningful career doesn’t have to follow a straight path. Every experience adds something, and when those experiences come together with a clear purpose, they can create something truly valuable.
As the Founder & CEO of RAAGAM Consulting, you work across multiple service domains. What are some of the biggest challenges of managing a diversified business, and how do you ensure that strategic planning, operational efficiency, and financial discipline remain strong across every vertical?
Managing a diversified business requires a clear vision and, most importantly, discipline. The biggest challenge is ensuring that different service areas grow without losing the quality, confidentiality and personal attention that clients expect from RAAGAM.
I focus on keeping our core purpose clear while maintaining structured processes, defined responsibilities and close monitoring of operations and finances. I also believe in making decisions based on facts and long-term value rather than short-term growth.
Financial discipline is equally important to me. Every vertical has to be sustainable, and growth should come with proper planning rather than unnecessary expansion.
Ultimately, I believe diversification works only when the foundation is strong. At RAAGAM, we are growing steadily, and a significant part of our business comes through client referrals and word of mouth. That trust is something I consider more valuable than numbers alone.
Your work combines business acumen with a strong human-centric approach through counselling. What have your experiences with people and their personal challenges taught you about leadership, decision-making, and understanding human behaviour?
Working closely with people has taught me that leadership is not only about making decisions; it is also about understanding the person and the situation behind the decision.
I have always had a very human-centric approach with my clients. I tend to take their problems personally and consciously put myself in their place to understand what they may actually be going through. This helps me look beyond the surface of a problem and understand the emotions, concerns and circumstances behind it.
My own personal experiences have also taught me a great deal about people, relationships and challenges. They have helped me develop the ability to look deeper, ask the right questions and understand what may not always be expressed openly.
I have learned that every person sees a situation differently, and good decision-making requires patience, empathy and an unbiased understanding of the facts. As a leader and counsellor, I therefore try not to simply tell people what they should do; I try to help them understand their situation clearly and find the right path for themselves.
For me, understanding people is one of the most important aspects of both leadership and counselling.
You also offer pre-matrimonial background verification and legal consulting services areas where trust, confidentiality, and accuracy are critical. What motivated you to enter these spaces, and what gaps in the existing ecosystem did you feel needed to be addressed?
I entered these spaces because I strongly believe that some of the biggest decisions in life should be based on facts, not assumptions.
My exposure to the investigation industry introduced me to pre-matrimonial verification, and I quickly realised how important this service is. Marriage is a life-changing decision, yet many people rely only on matrimonial profiles, conversations or information shared by families. I felt there was a genuine need for professional, discreet and ethical verification so that people could make informed decisions before saying yes.
For me, confidentiality and accuracy are non-negotiable because we are dealing with people’s lives, relationships and reputations. Our role is not to judge anyone, but to present verified information objectively so that the client can make their own decision.
Legal consulting was a natural extension of this approach. Once people understand their situation, they may also need the right legal guidance. We therefore developed a network of experienced lawyers across India to help clients access appropriate legal support.
Ultimately, I wanted RAAGAM to bridge an important gap helping people verify facts, understand their situation and make informed decisions with the right professional support.
As a woman entrepreneur and business leader, what have been some of the most defining challenges or turning points in your journey, and how did you develop the resilience and confidence to navigate them?
I think a large part of my resilience was built very early in life. I was the eldest sibling and also the eldest among my generation in the family, so from childhood I naturally learned to take responsibility, manage different situations and look after people around me. In many ways, those early experiences prepared me for leadership without me even realising it at the time.
My father played a very important role in building my confidence. He always told me, “You can excel, and you will do your best.” The fact that he believed in me equally as a daughter made a deep impact on me. Those words stay with you while growing up, and they become an inner strength when life gets challenging.
I have always believed in women being independent and capable, even before I fully understood what entrepreneurship or leadership meant. There was no business background in my family, and honestly, I didn’t have a clear roadmap for becoming an entrepreneur. I simply had the confidence that I could learn, take responsibility and create my own path.
Over the years, life itself has been my biggest teacher. Every challenge has taught me something, and I have tried to turn those experiences into strength rather than allowing them to hold me back.
I believe resilience is not about having a life without challenges. It is about developing the inner confidence to face them, learn from them and keep moving forward. That mindset has been one of the strongest foundations of my journey as a woman entrepreneur and leader.
You have been recognised among India’s Most Powerful Business Women in 2025. What does this recognition mean to you personally, and more importantly, what responsibility do you believe comes with being recognised as a powerful woman leader?
I was genuinely very happy and humbled when I received the recognition among India’s Most Powerful Business Women in 2025. For me, it was much more than an award; it was a reminder that the work I have been doing has created an impact.
Being recognised specifically as a “Powerful Business Woman” gave me an additional sense of confidence and also a greater responsibility. It motivated me to work harder, continue growing RAAGAM and, most importantly, remain committed to working for people. Business is important because it gives you the platform and resources to do meaningful work, but the real purpose for me is the impact we create in people’s lives.
The recognition was also very special because I am not only an entrepreneur; I am a wife and a mother of two wonderful children. Their happiness and the way they looked at this achievement were incredibly heart-warming for me.
I must especially acknowledge my husband, because he has been an important part of the journey behind RAAGAM. In fact, he gave the company its name, helped build the strongest team around me and has always stood by me with immense support and encouragement.
For me, being a powerful woman is not about having authority over others. It is about having the courage to build something, the strength to overcome challenges and the ability to use your position to create opportunities and make a difference in other people’s lives. That is the responsibility I feel comes with this recognition.
Looking ahead, what is your larger vision for RAAGAM Consulting and your own journey as an entrepreneur, counsellor, legal advisor, and investor? What kind of impact do you ultimately want to create in the lives and businesses you work with?
My larger vision for RAAGAM is to build it into a highly trusted and recognised organisation where people come not only for professional services, but also for clarity, guidance and confidence in making important decisions.
I want RAAGAM to continue strengthening its core areas of pre-matrimonial verification, counselling and legal consulting, while maintaining the confidentiality, ethical standards and personal approach that have been central to our journey. I would also like to build a stronger pan-India presence and continue developing a team that can deliver the same level of trust and professionalism that our clients expect from us.
Personally, I want to continue evolving as an entrepreneur, counsellor, legal consultant and investor. I believe learning should never stop, and every new experience should add value to the way we work and the people we serve.
Ultimately, I don’t measure success only by the size of a business. I measure it by the impact we create. If our work helps someone avoid a wrong decision, guides a family through a difficult situation, gives someone the confidence to take the right step, or helps a client or business understand a situation better, then I feel RAAGAM is fulfilling its purpose.
And I would love for RAAGAM to grow through trust. Even today, a significant part of our business comes through word of mouth, and I believe that is one of the strongest foundations on which a meaningful organisation can be built.
