Let’s learn more about her inspiring journey, background and advice for our growing community!

Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Kalyani:

What inspired you to become an author?

I was a voracious reader since childhood and always dreamt of writing a book someday. Books like ‘atomic habits’ and ‘tiny habits’ inspired me that even the tiniest of change can one day lead to a huge revolution.

Even small, consistent changes in habits and discipline can make a huge difference in your personality and accelerate your success.

My career of 16 years in the field of training and coaching helped me reach out, in black and white, to people around and gave me the confidence to become an author so I decided to immortalize my learnings in form of a book and pass the legacy on and make a difference in the world.

Could you please give our readers an insight into the title of your book?

My book reads ’31 days to The best version of you’. It is a collection of scientific techniques, self-help practices and a continuous journey of self-improvement, discovered over 16 years of my teaching career.

Interacting with over 50,000 people across the globe has helped me gain insight into such methods and habits which help me tap my true potential. My book consists of such affirmations and positive thoughts which will motivate you to come out of your comfort zone and let the best of you be felt!

Each chapter talks of a different technique to this journey of self-discovery and I am sure that you can discover the secret to your purpose and mission in these pages.

Which is your favourite chapter in the book and could you share its key points?

Well, there are two chapters which are my best. The first one is on goal setting. We all have goals but don’t set them.  this chapter tells you the difference between having a goal and setting a goal and how you can actually bridge the gap to achieve your goal. This chapter provides smart goal setting techniques which is sure to get you to succeed.

My second favourite chapter is the one on mindfulness. It’s about living in the present moment mindfully so as to make the most of it. Young professionals and entrepreneurs can truly gain benefit through this technique and be masters of their lives. Mindful communication, mindful eating and mindful listening are the key takeaways of this chapter.

Mindful living can help build strong connections between people which is the key to true happiness, peace and success.

What are the top takeaways from your book?

This book is a 31 days journey to the best version of you and has more than 70 techniques of visualisation, affirmations that are easy to implement, not too time-consuming and definitely an exciting way to tap your true mission.

So, as per me, the best takeaway is that you can discover yourself in a unique manner by doing things in the correct way to get the maximum output. It covers a wide array of topics from heath to mindfulness to the way to true happiness. So isn’t that what we all want ultimately ?? It talks about how you can program happiness within yourself.

It helps you multiply your self-worth manifold and thus multiply your net worth because the business is only as big as a business owners’ mindset. I always sign off in all my motivational workshops by saying – we all have just one life, let’s make a true difference.

Women are multitaskers and so are you. How do you handle pressure and manage stress?

Women play several roles in their lives and are no wonder, considered as “superhuman “. Most of them are perfectionists too! I believe that setting clear goals and building a strong support system around you can make the journey a joyful one.

A personal example of this is that I ensured that my son becomes independent rather than depending on me for every little requirement. This helped him gain confidence and gave me some free time to do things which actually needed my supervision. This is a small but effective example of a change I made in myself to lift off the stress and achieve better.

I am living my Ikigai, which is a Japanese philosophy and you can read about it in the first chapter of my book. I love to teach; I love to meet new people and I love to make a difference through my training sessions and motivational workshops.

So, when you just love what you do, the stress is just a part of the game and can be fun.

What obstacles and challenges did you face in your journey so far?

Well, I think I would really be very grateful to my family, my support system, that they have always supported and helped me. You know for women entrepreneurs; the journey can sometimes be quite challenging. I did face my ups and downs but I like to look at obstacles as stepping stones.

I like to look at failures as learning and I believe that whether it is your up and down, it is taking you towards your higher self. So, the journey has been beautiful.

When I look back, I never regret and I always feel that each and every experience whether good, bad, whether it was an obstacle, has only empowered me to go forward and take my mission to the world.

What advice do you give to students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?

Well, I would say be a lifelong learner. Never ever stop learning. Each day, ask yourself the question – Am I better than yesterday?

Of course, my book will be like a workbook, a handbook, a reference journal for you which is simple to read and has techniques which can be easily imbibed. Warren Buffet says,” the best investment you can ever make is the one in yourself and learning is earning .” and I totally believe in that!

We are truly privileged to be born in an era where there is so much information on social media….a warning there, however, be sensible to imbibe wisely. as it can be a double-edged sword.

There are many informative YouTube videos that can help you enhance your skills while there are others which can be addictive and lead you off your track. so, if you set clear goals, there are least chances of you being sidetracked and thus setting a strong foundation for your careers.
