As part of this endeavour, we invited a passionate entrepreneur – Kanishk Duggal for an exclusive interview with us. Kanishk is an Entrepreneur, Leader, Tech-wizard, Consultant and Mentor. He is the Founder and CEO of Vision2konnect Consulting. Let’s learn more about his inspiring journey, his background and his advice for our growing community!

Talk us through your background and your journey as an entrepreneur, please;

I did my schooling from Modern School, New Delhi and further pursued BBA & MBA  from the Indian institute of planning & management in New Delhi. I have always been a very passionate individual from the beginning and always aspired to be one of the youngest achievers by delivering high performance in all walks of life. To add to my skills and knowledge, I also completed a course in “Recruitment management cycle” since I was very much inclined towards this practice from the very start of my career.

I started my career with (An online job portal) in the year 2005 into sales. There I have started interacting with the recruitment firm owners for selling database which would further help them search for the right candidates for their clients.

My interactions often used to happen with the recruiters while giving a demo for the candidate database. That was when I started taking interest in the business & eventually floated my own venture   – Vision2konnect Consulting soon after the corporate stint in the year 2012.”

I have always been very passionate about building or creating something on my own and scaling it up at the same time gives maximum happiness.

This whole experience gave me a lot of sense and it finally showed me the exact way to do the recruitment business.

What attracts you towards entrepreneurship instead of a corporate career?

I had a corporate career before I chose entrepreneurship. So I’ve witnessed both worlds now.

As I mentioned above as well, at the time of my Timesjobs days my regular interactions with the recruitment firm founders & recruiters exposed me to this business and I really saw the immense potential in this industry which will surely grow to the next level in the coming years, especially in a fast-growing economy like India. 

I never chose to become an entrepreneur from day one, my passion towards the recruitment made me instead. There is a need to mention here that my corporate career has curved the path to entrepreneurship.”

You see – It’s fascinating how you build something from scratch and not everyone can do it. It takes a lot of courage, planning, perseverance, hard work, teamwork, combined with good strategy & execution skills.

‘Vision2konnect Consulting’ is such a unique name; talk us through more about it, please. Our audience would also love to know what kind of problem you are solving with the help of your Business.

“Vision2konnect” comes after the thought of connecting the aspirants to the right/suitable career opportunities directly with the corporate. It simply means that we are in the business of connecting the right fit to the right role with the right organization.

“We are helping corporations fulfil their hiring needs or finding them the required resources across levels which eventually helps them achieve their business goals.”

Vision2konnect consulting comes with around 8-9 yrs of experience in serving their clients and giving them extended support in hiring. We give access to our clients to hire potential talent/candidates from our own database or through the network which we have built over the years.

So to say – We offer at least 20 to 30% of unique candidates through our network & hiring techniques that are not available with other HR firms or are very rare in the market. 

Vision2konnect consulting helps their prestigious clients to hire well-screened quality talent which further adds to their revenue and growth.

What are the future plans of your company?

We are going aggressive in acquiring clientele in various segments like IT, Product based Technology companies, Infrastructure, Solar Energy & Power.

We also recently tried our hands into the Government sector, as it comes with huge potential and wishes to continue in applying for more quality recruitment tenders and work with top-notch Government bodies.

During this COVID-19 crisis, what are the measures you have undertaken to continue your business without disruption?

So the Recruitment cycle was disrupted for 8 to 10 months when the pandemic began. We did shrink our size and became more cautious in taking prompt decisions.

Now we have successfully implemented the hybrid work model for the future.  Honestly, we bounced back more quickly than expected. Our business model consists of a lean team which is not at all resource-heavy and has minimal overheads.

In your opinion, what is more necessary: an idea or a good team for a successful startup?

In my opinion, it should be a mix of both. You just cannot go ahead with an idea jotted down on a piece of paper without like-minded people working on it.

“I have seen companies with very innovative ideas along with niche market segment fail just because they lacked proper team spirit in executing strategies.”

Motivation is the key which keeps all of us going ahead.

What are the three most important lessons you have learned building your startup?

Marketing should be an ongoing process, Effective financial management/planning & client management.

You are always positive and motivated, what keeps you going?

The positivity comes from the clients whom we are associated with that are happy and keeps giving repeated business.

“Also the faith we have in ourselves to acquire new clients in different industry verticals and convince them to add us in their hiring cycle.”

We would love to know your advice for all those starting out as an aspiring entrepreneur?

(1) Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and see them as an opportunity to learn.

(2) Have a heart of steel and be ready for challenges.

(3) Be organized in terms of setting up goals & be specific with the industry/segment clientele one wishes to acquire or work with.

(4) Put systems in place to ensure smooth flow of delivery.
