At BrilliantRead Media, we always strive to bring meaningful and powerful stories from India and around the world to empower and motivate our growing community. As part of this endeavour, we invited Kunal Jain & Runali Jain for an exclusive interview with us. They are the Founders of The Casa Studio. Let’s learn more about their incredible journey, background, and advice for our growing community!

Excerpts from our exclusive interview with the founders:

Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?

Our professional journeys are rooted in a solid foundation of civil engineering, both culminating in our graduation from Jain University Bangalore in 2018. Building upon this academic achievement, I pursued a diploma in interior design, while Runali enhanced her skill set and expanded her expertise in the field.

Over the course of more than three years, we honed our craft and gained invaluable hands-on experience while working with an esteemed interior design company. During this time, we immersed ourselves in various projects, refining our eye for detail, mastering design principles, and fostering creativity in every endeavour.

Eager to further explore our passion and elevate our careers, we embarked on a new chapter by venturing into entrepreneurship within the interior design realm. This transition marked a pivotal moment in our professional journey, where we embraced the challenges and opportunities of running our own interior design company.

Through dedication, perseverance, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, we have forged a path defined by innovation, quality, and client satisfaction. Our journey reflects a commitment to continuous growth, learning, and the relentless pursuit of excellence in the dynamic field of interior design.

How did you discover your passion?

Our passion for design has been a lifelong journey, rooted in a natural curiosity and love for creativity. Since childhood, we’ve been intrigued by the ways design shapes our surroundings and influences our experiences. Whether doodling floor plans or rearranging furniture, we’ve always found joy in exploring the world of interior design and discovering new ideas.

As we grew older, our interest in design only deepened. We delved into art, architecture, and various design disciplines, eager to learn and expand our knowledge. Through education and hands-on experience, we’ve honed our skills and cultivated a genuine passion for creating spaces that are both functional and beautiful.

This passion continues to drive us forward, inspiring us to seek out new challenges and opportunities for growth in the ever-evolving field of interior design. It’s a journey filled with excitement, creativity, and the satisfaction of turning ideas into reality.

Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?

During challenging times, our resilience is fueled by a combination of optimism, determination, and unwavering belief in the value of our work. We remind ourselves to stay positive, focusing on the lessons learned from setbacks and the opportunities they present for growth and improvement.

By maintaining a proactive mindset and refusing to succumb to negativity, we find the strength to persevere and overcome obstacles, knowing that every challenge is a stepping stone towards success.

What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?

Family responsibility: Growing up in a business-oriented family has instilled in us a strong sense of responsibility towards our loved ones. This has taught us the importance of prioritizing family bonds and supporting each other through thick and thin.

Persistence and optimism: Transitioning from a family business background into a professional career path brought its share of challenges. However, we’ve learned that maintaining hope and perseverance, even in the face of adversity, can lead to positive outcomes and personal growth.

Selective trust: While trust is essential for meaningful relationships, we’ve learned to be discerning about whom we place our trust in. While family is a cornerstone of trust, we’ve become more cautious in trusting others outside of our inner circle, especially in professional and personal matters.

In addition to these broader life lessons, our journey in design has also taught us invaluable lessons about creativity, collaboration, and the importance of continuous learning and adaptation in a dynamic field.

Despite the challenges of breaking away from the family business mentality, we found our path in entrepreneurship and interior design, learning and growing every step of the way.

In your opinion, what are the keys to success?

The keys to success are innovation, adaptability, and strong relationships, strategic planning, effective communication, financial management, and a focus on customer satisfaction.

What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?

Our advice: Set clear goals, keep learning, network, embrace challenges, seek feedback, stay persistent, and maintain work-life balance.

Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?

What makes our journey satisfying and exciting is the opportunity to learn and grow every day, facing new challenges, and making a positive impact along the way.
