At Brilliant Read Media, it is our constant endeavour to identify and share some of the unique and compelling stories from the startup ecosystem. As part of this, we invited Kavya Jain for an interview with Brilliant Read Media. To say it further, Kavya is a Fitness Coach, Zumba & Pilates Trainer and Founder at FUNFITFAB STUDIO. Let’s learn more about her background, inspiring journey so far and her advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Kavya:
Can you tell us about your journey into the fitness industry? What inspired you to become a certified fitness coach and start FUNFITFAB STUDIO?
My journey into the fitness industry began with my own postpartum weight loss journey. Like many women, I joined a gym but never truly felt comfortable there. The entire experience felt intimidating, and I often wished I had someone who could guide and encourage me along the way.
Everything changed when I joined a nearby Zumba class. For the first time, fitness became something I genuinely looked forward to rather than something I had to force myself to do. Over time, I lost 15 kilograms, but more importantly, I discovered confidence, happiness, and a healthier version of myself.
That transformation inspired me to become a certified fitness coach and establish FUNFITFAB STUDIO, a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental space where women can focus on their health and well-being. I wanted to build the kind of supportive community I wish I had when I first started my journey.
I strongly believe that when the woman of the house is healthy, she has the power to positively influence the health and happiness of her entire family. Through FUNFITFAB STUDIO, my mission is to help women become stronger, healthier, and more confident not only physically but mentally as well.
You specialize in Zumba, Pilates, and Strength Training. How do these different fitness disciplines complement one another, and how do you help clients choose the right program?
I don’t believe there’s a single workout that’s perfect for everyone, especially for women. Our bodies and hormonal needs evolve through different stages of life, so our fitness routines should evolve as well. That’s why I always adopt a holistic approach instead of focusing on just one form of exercise.
Zumba makes fitness enjoyable while improving cardiovascular endurance. Strength Training helps build lean muscle, boosts metabolism, and supports bone health, while Pilates enhances core strength, posture, flexibility, and overall body awareness. Together, these disciplines create a well-rounded fitness routine by targeting different aspects of physical health.
In my online workout batches, we intentionally include all three modalities throughout the week instead of sticking to one format. My objective isn’t simply to help women lose weight; it’s to help them enjoy movement, build confidence, and make fitness a sustainable part of their lifestyle.
You are actively expanding into corporate employee wellness across India, offering sessions that include Zumba, Yoga, Chair Yoga, Meditation, Bhangra, team-building activities, and other wellness modalities. How do these initiatives contribute to employee well-being, engagement, productivity, and a healthier workplace culture?
Today’s workplaces are more demanding than ever, and employee well-being is no longer a luxury; it’s a necessity. Through our corporate wellness programs, we aim to help employees step away from their desks, recharge mentally, and return to work feeling refreshed, focused, and energised.
Our programs include Zumba, Yoga, Chair Yoga, Meditation, Bhangra, Strength Training, team-building activities, and several other wellness initiatives. Organisations and HR teams can customize these sessions according to their workforce’s unique needs and wellness goals.
I firmly believe that healthy people build healthy workplaces. When employees feel physically and mentally well, they collaborate more effectively, think more clearly, and perform at their best.
At FUNFITFAB STUDIO, we conduct customized corporate wellness sessions across India, both online and offline, making workplace wellness accessible for organizations of every size.
Many people struggle to stay consistent with their fitness goals. What practical strategies do you recommend for building long-term discipline and motivation?
The best way to stay consistent is to stop viewing exercise as a chore and start seeing it as your personal “me time.” When you genuinely enjoy your workouts, consistency becomes much easier. That’s why I make every class fun, engaging, and full of variety, ensuring participants always have something to look forward to.
Long-term discipline doesn’t come from motivation alone; it comes from falling in love with the process and experiencing the positive changes that fitness brings, such as increased strength, higher energy levels, better sleep, and improved confidence.
One thing I always tell my students is, “We brush our teeth every day, we take a shower every day, and we eat every day so why shouldn’t we exercise every day?” Exercise should become a natural part of our daily routine, just like any other healthy habit.
How do your online fitness sessions ensure the same level of engagement, accountability, and results as in-person training?
One of the biggest misconceptions about online fitness is that it’s less effective than in-person training. In my experience, that’s simply not true. The difference lies in the quality of coaching, not the screen.
I keep every session highly interactive by correcting participants’ form, motivating them throughout the workout, and ensuring everyone feels seen and included. Since my batches are intentionally kept small, I can provide personalized attention, monitor progress closely, and ensure participants exercise safely and effectively.
Most importantly, every class is designed to be enjoyable and different. When people genuinely enjoy their workouts, they look forward to attending, and that’s what creates consistency and long-term results.
What are some of the biggest misconceptions people have about weight loss, strength training, and overall fitness, and how do you address them?
One of the biggest misconceptions is that losing weight automatically means being healthy. Many people focus only on the number on the weighing scale, whereas true fitness is about becoming stronger, improving mobility, increasing energy levels, and feeling healthier from within.
Another common myth, especially among women, is that strength training will make them look bulky. In reality, strength training helps build lean muscle, boosts metabolism, improves bone density, and creates a toned, strong physique. It’s one of the most beneficial forms of exercise, particularly as women grow older.
Many clients initially join my classes with weight loss as their only goal. However, they’re often pleasantly surprised by the other transformations they experience: more energy, improved mental clarity, reduced brain fog, better moods, improved sleep, and even clothes fitting better.
That’s why I always emphasize that fitness is about much more than weight loss. It’s about feeling healthier, stronger, and happier in your own body.
Can you share a memorable transformation story of a client whose journey reinforced your passion for coaching and holistic wellness?
One transformation that will always stay close to my heart is that of a woman who joined my classes with severe mobility issues caused by an L3-L4 spine condition. When she first started, even climbing stairs or performing a squat was extremely challenging, and she had very little confidence in her body’s abilities.
We focused on gradual, consistent progress and built her strength one step at a time. Within just three to four months of regular training, she was confidently performing jumping jacks, burpees, and several movements she once believed were impossible.
That experience reinforced my belief that fitness is about so much more than losing weight. It’s about restoring strength, rebuilding confidence, and giving people the freedom to move without fear.
What is your vision for FUNFITFAB STUDIO, and what advice would you give to individuals who want to begin their fitness journey but feel intimidated or unsure of where to start?
My vision for FUNFITFAB STUDIO extends far beyond helping women lose weight. I’m building a community that feels like a true sisterhood a place where women feel comfortable sharing their struggles, celebrating victories, supporting one another through every stage of life, and always feeling heard, understood, and uplifted.
Over the coming years, I hope to reach even more women through online coaching, wellness workshops, and customized corporate wellness programs across India.
To anyone who’s hesitant about starting their fitness journey, my advice is simple: don’t wait for the “right time” because it rarely comes. Don’t wait for a wedding, a vacation, or a health scare to motivate you. Start today because you deserve to feel healthy, strong, and energetic.
Remember, every fit person was once a beginner. Start small, stay consistent, and choose a form of movement that you genuinely enjoy. Those small, consistent steps have the power to transform your life.
