She is an Entrepreneur, Artist, Winner of Mrs. India Worldwide 2022 N and the Owner of Kriaan Design House and Futomic Designs. Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Komal:
Can you talk us through your background and your journey as a woman entrepreneur?
My journey as a woman entrepreneur has been a fascinating one. I started my career with a clear vision to fill the void in the field of ace designing as I always wanted to do something creative. This led me to co-found Futomic Design Services Pvt. Ltd, where I have been meticulously managing the designing department and business operations.
Over the years, I have successfully executed design projects worth over Rs. 200 crores across various domains like Residential, Commercial & Restaurant Interiors. It’s been a journey of growth, learning, and constant evolution. Along with Interior Designing, I started my Art wing which is now successfully running and has been selling Art all across the globe.
Then at the beginning of 2022, I participated in Mrs. India Worldwide, a global beauty pageant for married women, It was extremely huge winning two crowns for Mrs. India World Wide North & Mrs Hour Glass. I felt the crowns added further responsibility on me to guide and inspire women and do my bit for the society.
I became a part of various social causes to end period poverty. Thereafter I entered the world of fashion and now have been a part of many pageants as a Jury, guest of honour and groomer. I became a Fashion Influencer and have endorsed many premium brands.
I believe that as a woman entrepreneur, I have the power to inspire and motivate others, and I feel there is no better way then doing it and showing it to people. I really enjoy managing all these verticals of Interior Designing, Art & Influencer along with my family and kids, it keeps me positively busy and engaged.
How did you discover your passion?
My passion for design and art was something I discovered early on but my passion for fashion was like a hidden dream.
I realized that I had a unique perspective and a knack for creativity. This passion led me to become one of India’s most famous contemporary artists, capturing the beauty of nature in my work.
My passion for fashion was realized after winning the crown in Mrs India Worldwide 2022. I am very thankful to the almighty that I have been fortunate to fully work upon each and everything I dreamt about but still, I feel there’s a long way to go and many dreams to fulfill.
How has being a ‘fashionista’ influenced your work?
Being a Fashionista or a Fashion Influencer gives you an edge in terms of expressing what you think be it fashion or any other vertical of your business. I just try to express my unique style and creative expression.
Fashion, for me, is a way to express my personality and creativity. All in all it’s my love for creating things be it interior design, art or unique content to inspire people around me.
Please share with us more about your achievements as a celebrated artist?
As a celebrated artist, my paintings have been sold in various 5-star hotels and around the world. My work captures the beauty of nature, thanks to my years of experience and mastery of the colors on my canvases. It’s this recognition and appreciation of my work that motivates me to continue creating and innovating.
How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?
Challenges I believe makes everything even more deserving. The journey to achieve what you want becomes more exciting and sometimes frustrating also but I feel if you are consistent the results happen.
Maybe not in the timeframe you wanted it to happen and not the way you visualized it but it happens. The only thing that drives me is my nature of staying consistent. Perseverance I would say is one thing I stick to and when the time is right everything falls into place.
Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?
My biggest motivation and my true power is my belief. Belief in the almighty. Belief in Karma. Belief that if I put in my best and am true to myself I will achieve what I want. I feel there is this daily dose of belief that you need to have in order to stay motivated.
For me, also some days are good and some are bad but then you have to lift up yourself and keep going, find new ways, do things differently. At times you will lose at times you will win. This is life!
What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?
There is no strategy as such but the realization that everything changes with time be it people, be it things, be it circumstances and even your goals and perspective towards life. If you are able to cope up with these changes you will be able to survive.
Embracing the change and going with the flow, handling things as they come has actually helped me grow as a person. Change is the only constant the sooner you understand this the better it would be.
You are always positive and motivated, what keeps you going?
Is there any other choice? I mean who would want to be negative and gloomy. Not me for sure. Yes, there are bad days, sometimes you need to be slow, sometimes you need to take a break I feel it’s all ok.
It’s all part of life. You should just give yourself enough time to re-energize and then just restart. If you look at it it’s a beautiful circle of trying, failing, retrying, succeeding and so on. We should always be thankful about the blessings that have been bestowed on us.
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
The key to success in my opinion is constant determination towards achieving your goals. Undoubtedly you need to work smartly but at the same time discipline, hard work and determination have no substitutes.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
My advice to students and young professionals is to find their passion and pursue it relentlessly. Be ambitious, foster your creativity, and learn to manage effectively.
Don’t be afraid to think big, but also pay attention to the details. Remember, success is a journey, not a destination. It’s through continuous learning, hard work, and perseverance that you can achieve your goals and create a successful career.
Last but not least, how did winning the Mrs. India Worldwide Pageant influence your journey?
I am proud to be a Mrs India Worldwide crown holder. Winning the title of Mrs India Worldwide North was a significant milestone in my journey, and it has inspired me to continue striving for excellence in all that I do.
It’s this recognition and achievement that motivates me to keep pushing boundaries and striving for excellence.
