Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Prachee:

Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?

My professional journey so far has helped me cross-pollinate ideas between the graphic design industry and the ed the industry.

After completing my Advertising and Graphic Designing, I worked as a graphic designer in a couple of ad agencies for a few years. Then I had a career break due to family and my son’s responsibilities. During the break, I realized that I had a flair for teaching the English language.

Whenever I used to teach my son, I used to read the text like a story in order to help him understand the context better. I would modulate my voice while reading English Literature. This is when I got a break from a portal asking me to record videos teaching spoken English and English Grammar to non-natives in Hindi.

Following this, I decided to pursue a TESOL certification in order to become a certified English Language Tutor and joined various ed-tech companies to teach the English Language. I started my journey by teaching kids between the ages 6-12 years and I went on to teach adults of all ages. I also pursued a certification in content writing and went on to become a certified Soft skills Trainer, corporate Trainer and Train the Trainer.

Currently, I’m working as a consultant with an MNC and other EdTech’s as a soft skills and Language Trainer. My journey in the industry has helped me grow as a person and a Trainer as I meet people from all walks of life.

Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?

I’m a big believer of Law of Attraction. So, whenever things get tough, I just stop myself from thinking Negative and tell myself that everything will get alright. As we should be a magnet to positivity by having positive thoughts and not a magnet to negativity by having negative thoughts.

We attract what we think. So, why attract the bad when you can attract good. Also, life is about change. Nothing in life is permanent. The challenges will pass on and there will be better days ahead. Just believe in yourself. Because you have the power to change your own situation.

What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?

The three most important lessons I’ve learned in my life are:

> There is no age limitation to restart your career.

> The taste of independence is wonderful.

> To advance in the future, you need to leave your past behind.

In your opinion what are the keys to success?

I will say it straight that there are many factors but if you really have to have the key elements then to me these are the ones:

– Love yourself for who you are

– Take responsibility for your actions

– Gratitude is the biggest key if you want to be successful

– Be humble and grounded

What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?

If you want to achieve something, throw yourself into it with all honesty. Let that thing engulf you. Get obsessed with it.

Don’t be scared to experiment something out of your comfort zone. If you are passionate about it, just go and do it. Don’t think and get affected by other people’s opinions.

Because people are never there when you really need them. Most of the time they’re there only to discourage others. So, listen to your inner voice and follow your dreams.

Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?

The feedbacks I get from every human whose life I’ve touched and the love and respect I garner from my students wherever I go makes my journey satisfying and exciting. Wherever I go, people get connected with me easily.

I have a startup by the name of Diction Delight which focuses on classes for spoken English, Advanced English and Business English in a 1:1 virtual classroom.
