It is our constant endeavour to identify and share some of the unique and compelling stories from the ecosystem, as part of this we invited yet another passionate entrepreneur Satvanti Singh for an interview with BrilliantRead Media. Satvanti is Naturopath, Teacher, Youtuber, and Influencer. She is the Creator of Let’s Nurture Our Minds. Let’s learn more about her background, her inspiring journey so far and her advice for our growing community!

Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Satvanti:

Talk us through your background and your journey as a women entrepreneur, please;

From my childhood, I had to travel a lot because my father’s job was transferable. We had to move to new places every 2-3 years. Coping with a new atmosphere, new friends and a new environment was always a challenge.

My father was always a source of inspiration for me. My mother though not educated is a strong and hard-working lady. She always motivated me to do better whether in my studies or later in other walks of life and day-to-day challenges.

Satvanti Singh

I was the first girl from my village to complete graduation.

After marriage there were different type of challenges. As I belong to Haryana where daughter-in-laws had limited rights with lots and lots of responsibilities. Life was not easy and had to face new challenge every day. I couldn’t join any job due to so many restrictions on me.”

I started volunteering in a school where my son was admitted. After that somehow I managed to do a teaching job (though part-time). I was always keen to learn new things and learn art and craft work from one of my co-teachers. My work was liked by many and one of my friends asked me to participate in an exhibition.

My work was appreciated and for two consecutive years, I was given first prize. Once a guest, who was working with Doordarshan suggested me to participate in the Doordarshan programme “ Aaj ke mehman”. I participated and luckily got a chance to feature sometimes for craft work “ best out of waste” and sometimes for discussions on social issues. This gave me confidence and boosted my morale.

As earlier I told I am always keen to learn new things and as my children say I am a good learner, I learned to drive at the age of 55. I learnt a little bit of computers at the age of 60 and at the age of 68 I started my YouTube channel Let’s Nurture Our Minds, here is the link – https://youtube.com/c/LetsNurtureOurMinds.

How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?

I believe in sharing Joy and that’s the first principle of My life which I learned from my father and later from my mother. I believe all people are capable of change. It is important to understand people are shaped by their experiences and circumstances.

After my father’s demise me and my mother were supportive to each other. With no source of income, no education and raising six children was not easy but my mother “ a super women” never lose heart.”

Today all six of us are very happy and well settled only because of her courage and guidance.

Satvanti Singh

What are some of the strategies/traits that you believe have helped you grow as a person despite all odds?

I believe in some principles

(1) Always be positive

(2) Be ready to face the situation

(3) Focus on solutions, not on the problem

(4) Take responsibilities

(5) Be resourceful

(6) Live in present (no regrets no unrealistic dreams)

You are always positive and motivated, what keeps you going?

The motivation to work hard and practice and stay disciplined comes from the desire to master my skill to keep learning something new, and my genuine enjoyment for my purpose.

I try to set boundaries which takes practice so that I don’t get bogged down by problems. I believe one should be –

– Mindful (pehle socho fir bolo)

– Helping people (specifically who deserve it) gives me pleasure

– Ready to take on challenges

– I take full responsibility of what I do or say

– I don’t let fear overpower me

I believe our subconscious mind is better tool so always keep it full with positive thoughts new hope and doing meditation helps me for that. Most important is I believe everyone has some good quality so remember only that things instead of always finding fault in others.”

I feel thrilled when I receive feedback in form of comments and likes on my YouTube channel from my subscribers. Their comments and their requests for home remedies and tips give me the strength to keep moving.

In your opinion, what are the keys to success?

I will say it straight that there are many factors but if you really have to have the key elements then to me these are the ones:

(a) Accepting & Loving myself.

(b) Responsibility for my actions

(c) Standing up for myself

(d) Resourcefulness

(e) Curiosity and be grateful

(f) Positive Attitude

(g) Taking massive action (execution) with consistency and belief

Of course, family support is also needed.

Satvanti Singh

What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?

There is a lot more to say but if you ask one sentence it is ‘STAY POSITIVE AND FOCUSED, YOU WILL ACHIEVE WHATEVER YOU WANT TO’.
