Dr J Rajmohan Pillai, born on May 12, 1964, leads one of India’s largest and most successful business houses.

Key Highlights:

Joining the family business in 1981, Dr J. Rajmohan Pillai was involved in the operations of one of the companies in the group, where the practical experience was gained in running an export business along with formal education. Over the next 3 years, he worked as a managerial apprentice at Parle Foods (Manufacturers of Thumbs Up, Limca, Gold Spot, then India’s Largest Selling Soft Drink), Iracema Industries de Caju S/A Fortaleza (one of the largest exporters of cashew nuts in Brazil, part of RJR Nabisco, one of the largest food companies in the United States) and Britannia Industries Ltd, the largest Biscuit Co. in Asia (involved in the operations of all the company’s major departments and teams that successfully launch new products).

In 1984 Dr J. Rajmohan Pillai became Director of Janso Soft Drinks (P) Ltd, bottlers of soft drink brands promoted by McDowell & Co. Ltd, part of the UB Group, where he was responsible for managing all operations from manufacturing, finance, marketing personnel and creation of a product marketing network in the state of Kerala.

The following year, he took over the ship’s CEO of KJP Group, one of India’s largest cashew seed converters and exporters. He has successfully overseen the Group’s volume growth more than doubling turnover in 5 years. It has also started diversification activities of the group in areas such as Shipping and Finance. 

During 91 and 94, Rajmohan was appointed director of Weizmann Industries Ltd (a company listed on the Bombay stock exchange in the financial and industrial sectors), director and then CEO of Pace International Ltd, the first joint-stock company with American link (M / s. ConAgra, the largest food company in the US) in the cashew industry and Thai Agri Foods Public Company Limited. (the largest Limited Food Company in Thailand, which markets products in more than 50 countries).

He also saw him as a member of the administration committee of the Cashew Export Promotion Council, Cochin, a member of the management committee of the Kerala Chapter of Federation of Indian Exporters Organization (FIEO), and governor of the export panel of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Kerala Chapter, where he worked closely with other industry leaders and experts for the promotion and development of corporate verticals.

In 1995, Dr J. Rajmohan Pillai became the president of Betaempire, a conglomerate with operations in India, the Netherlands, France, the United States, Spain and Sri Lanka.

Being a man of vision, Dr J. Rajmohan Pillai was instrumental in the creation of the KJP Research Foundation, where he is a member of the board of directors conducting research in the fields of cashews and other vegetable crops. He also established the Rajan Pillai Foundation in 1997 to perpetuate the memory of the late business magnate Rajan Pillai to promote excellence among Indian citizens in a broad spectrum of activities including arts, sports, social sciences, medicine, serving the cause. of humanity and of man. rights, to establish trophies and awards of appreciation among Indian citizens.

The Foundation has established awards for outstanding achievements in the field and operates a Kalakshethram with the name and style “Njanadepam Vidyapeetam Samskarika Kalakshethram & Research Center” in Kollam, registered at the Sangeetha Nataka Academy, Thrissur.

Inclination towards Sports:

He is a sports enthusiast having represented his university in tennis for five consecutive years. The team was All India. Finalists at the Inter-University Championship. He has secured Gold in inaugural Malaysian open International Tennis Federation (ITF) Seniors Circuit held in Kuala Lumpur.

Social initiatives, and contribution to R&D:

He has been involved in social activities since his university days and was a member of the Rotract Club, the youth wing of Rotary International, where he held the position of District Rotract Representative (DRR) which is the club’s highest office nationwide and was an active member of Round Table India, a social and community service organization.

Beta Group President, Dr J. Rajmohan Pillai, received his PhD in Business Management from New Age International University, Seborga, Italy. This academic honour was bestowed in recognition of his overall contribution to the cashew industry and particularly on the basis of his dissertation on the world cashew economy from an Indian perspective.

In his thesis covering the full range of the cashew industry, Dr J. Rajmohan Pillai points to the emerging competition in India from Vietnam. The small state of East Asia has made great strides, both in manufacturing and processing, and may soon win India’s position as a world leader in the cashew industry.

Dr J. Rajmohan Pillai brings to his work a wealth of business management experience gained through two generations. He had told the cashew saga, tracing its disturbing heights and splendid unpredictability, in two books, one Malayalam and the other English.

His opinion on what are the keys to success:

You need to know exactly what you want. If you do not know precisely what you want, you will not take the right action, go in the right direction, or make the right decisions. When the goal is clear-cut, you can make plans and you know what steps you need to take.

His advice for all those starting who are starting out as an aspiring entrepreneur:

Target Customer. Having a service or product to sell is not gonna make you profitable if you do not have customers who will buy it.
